What would you do?

After a long day at work, went to the car park to find that some idiot squeezed into a space next to my car that was far too small for his car and left some nasty scratches on my back bumper.

He parks here everyday usually next too me. Its not the 1st time he has parked liked this next to me but is the first time he has done damage to my car.

Mates at work were telling me to do some damage to his car, i used to work with a guy that was in the same situation and he smashed all thier windows in 8O .

In the end i just left it as i wanted to get home but chances are he will park next to me again tomorrow so will probably go and confront him about it.

If this was you, what would you do?

I wouldnt do anything nasty to his car but id say speak with him first & go from there

Yea i'm not the kind of person to go and smash his car up. I've seen the guy about before and TBH he's a total knob but i'm getting a new job next week anyway so won't see him again

I remember when i was younger, my Dad bought a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero in black, on the first day he got it we went to the shops, parked all the way out the way so nobody would park next too him. Come out and a guy parked his truck in the space next too him and left nasty dent. He lost his temper and put a load of dents over this guys truck 8O

Carjam his number plate so you have all his details and when you talk to him use his name and if that doesn't work then goto his house and have another word. If he knows that you know his full name/ address it will make it much harder for him to do a runner and may help pressure him into paying up

Ask him for some $$ to fix or he'll be seeing you in court as you have an eye witness that saw him do it. Worth a shot. If that fails, well I don't know, unless you actually have proof it was him you could take him to small claims, but if not its tough luck. Think up something you can do that won't become a problem for him until you are long gone.

Good on him I say. My car is covered in parking scars, including a nice crap in my front kit. Really wish people could drive  If I caught someone shit would be on like donkey kong!

If he is young, he could get his parents to talk to him.

I'm 17 ay. Problem is that although the scratches match the colour of his car, i have no real proof (i.e camera) and because i'm a young driver, chances are that no one will believe me anyway plus its not worth taking the guy to court, i'm hoping that it will buff out.

Really annoying when you take a lot of care over something and some dick comes and screws it up. Ah well, sh!t happens

Results are quite interesting, everyone that i work with said they would have done some damage

I'm a Scaffolder at the new stadium being built here in Dunedin. Unfortunatly there is only one car park which is for everyone who is working there so have to share it with builders, crane drivers, plumbers, and anyone else who have work vans. In other words it doens't matter if they open thier car door onto other peoples car because it doens't matter if they damage a work vehicle that doesn't belong to them :?

Virtually unavoidable in any situation. I work for a decent company, and we have a big private car park all to ourselves, doesn't stop my car getting dings in the doors from retards opening theirs to far.

All you need to do is have a word to the guy, never know, he could be quite reasonable. :P
