Now that the budget has been released, and there's been a few other events.
What are you votes like now?

Not sure, I have always repected the Green's philosphy, but in practice they come off like a bunch of air heads. I was pleasantly suprised by national and the budget, I mean it's not perfect but I was expecting a lot, lot worse.

Imagine if National formed a coalition with the Greens? It would be like mismatched cop movie. Like Rush Hour but with less kung fu.

Doesn't matter though, I'm not even going to be in the country to vote anyways

All I have to say is Labour doesn't deserve to win after the pathetic effort they've put in over the last 3 years in opposition. Phil Goff should be sacked for being an even more pathetic leader. I'd be quite happy to see more of the small, annoying parties out of parliament or at least out of government, hopefully ACT doesn't get any say or even get in this time round.

I'm guessing if National wins next years budget will slash kiwisaver to bits.

Why would they do that?
Key has already said it should stay. Just needs some tweaks

Yet you trust them with your retirement fund?

My vote hasn't changed. If you have time to complain about the minimum wage, you have time to upskill and get paid what you're worth. Yep, i'm a prick, but I work damn hard at it, so you can't fault that. They always target the fast food workers for their news articles, and they always complain they don't get paid enough. *gets out violin*

Labour havent done anything of note in their time as opposition, and I have my doubts whether Phil Goff would be a particularly effective leader.
Will be voting National again, no real doubts on that. Best of a bad bunch and all that

So what happens to the mentally limited people that are never going to be capable of achieving higher than a <insert minimum wage job here>?

They should stop complaining and upskill?

Party vote National, John Banks for Epsom.

Labour will NEVER win an election again until a tidal wave washes across their benches and gets rid of all the walking dead that sits there now (ie Goff, Mallard, Cosgrove, Ruth Dyson etc). They would also do well to remember their roots and realise that they are a party which was founded to represent the blue-collar workforce, rather than the bohemian urban deadwood, lifetime beneficiaries, queers, and solo mothers of 6 on the DPB.

It's really a pity that Labour's become such a circus, a strong opposition is essential in a proper democracy.

Wasn't really what I was meaning.
Assuming an IQ of about 100 is the median, I reckon over 1/2 of all people are rather limited in their ability to achieve above the minimum wage type jobs... besides, there are a lot of minimum wage type jobs out there that need doing and someone has to do them.

The problem with minimum wage jobs is they used to be something you passed through early in your working life and then moved on. So many people now sit there that it is stopping a lot of youth from getting work experience, it doesn't take huge intelligence to move up in jobs it usually just takes a good work ethic. Intelligence and qualifications don't kick in until further up the chain.
Now you have people with 5 kids trying to get by on a cleaning job, seriously if you haven't progressed higher than that you probably shouldn't be breeding and definitely not in large numbers.

Bit miffed about kiwisaver,

I would have preferred that the government monthly contribution was removed, the $1000 kick start remained. 3% compulsory contribution with the employers contribution tax free. Either that or just leave them both at 2%. As it stands I will be a fair bit short in april but my employers contribution will stay the same (3% taxed works out closer to 2% by my rough calculation).

At this stage will go yellow, If its looking like Banks wont win epson ill go blue.

You would rather have $1000 once than $1040 every year until you are 65 :?

I think I'm going to drop my contributions down to the minimum level from 4% and just save up cash, then buy $10k bundles of company bonds. I'll be looking out for the SOE IPOs. They will be an absolute cracker.

Nope, I don't think the government should be contributing anything, but the lefties would have a field day if they removed all government input, so the $1000 kick start is the lesser of two evils
