If its successful, lets hope that telco's in NZ make it more affordable for mobile data!

Looks like another way to chew up data (at this stage)

Apparently the demand for it is crrrraaaazzy. So much so, that they've actually completely shut off all invitations.

A mate of mine reckons its awesome. Say's he'll be ditching FB when its public.

The whole organising people to certain groups so that some people see some updates, while people in other groups can't sounds like it could be good. Just incase you want to drop an update with the C bomb to your mates, but you don't want the missus or your mum to see it.

Probably wouldn't be of great use to me, as my mum ain't in FB anyway, but I can see how it would be helpful.

Would like to check it out though.

I don't know what it is, but going by what people are saying it's just another way to be social on the internet? We really need another way to stay in touch without actually seeing other people?

Does no one go outside these days to do this? :(

Could be wrong though, skimmed the thread and cbf googling what google+ is.

It looks good, the friend circles is a big step in the right direction, Google seem to take security a lot more seriously than FB

I like it so far, sooo much cleaner than Facebook, have sent out a few invites myself, looks looks good for the future, I hope they don't let people play games on it, that's one thing I hate about Facebook.

Haven't got the video chat working yet, my mates lappy crashes every time I accept or he accepts a call, I can see him but can't hear him and he can't see/hear me at all.

I won't be signing up to it unless it surpasses Facebook to the point where its like Bebo vs. Facebook. If you're still on Facebook, you won't be cool anymore.

Resistance to change is massive when there's little incentive to do so.

Look at the uproar when people change where the sidebar or something is on facebook.

A lot of VERY casual internet users are on facebook which suits their requirements just fine, there's not a large enough incentive for the bulk of users to move over to google+

I've seen a lot of "omfg facebook sucks I'm going to google+ and shutting down facebook" types come crawling back with their tail between their legs.

User generated content is the crux of social media, so its no good if only 5% of your friends are on a particular system.
