Just a suggestion.
Thats a shame, I dont quite see the point in going to a "meet" if you dont meet the small group of people that are there. In saying that though, Its not exactly hard going up to someone and putting your hand out for a good ol kiwi shake. Often people perceive shyness as aloofness, but once the introductions have been made, most people then open their mouths and start talking.

Again, very sad, and defeating the purpose of a meet
Maybe they should have called it a megaignore?
The few times I went to the animates meets, which was a couple of years ago now, I found everyone very welcoming and friendly. Everyone was involved in the same conversations, and everyone showed an interest in each others cars. Just the way a meet should be, really.
Very much the same as the group of us who go for lunch/drives occasionally. Everyone talks about what they have done their car lately, or the dreams they have atleast
Personally, when I am around others, I want to know about their cars, as I already know everything about mine.
Anyone who wants to meets some GC's who are friendly, and who talk to others, feel free to come along next time we have a meet. Its mainly supras to be honest, but everyone is welcome
