To guage or not to guage

How many cars have you seen that look like the inside of the space shuttle? You know, boost, fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp, exhaust temp, water temp, hot-chick-o-meter, i'd-like-to-meter

Do cars look hot or rice with a gob full of needles?

The old rice rule applies - is it necessary, or functional?

I dont have a big need for any additional guages - so I dont have any.

*shrug*

IMO if you get any.....
- dont mount em across your dash (may be attractive to thieves, and looks a bit silly if you have too many)

- dont get any duplicates (i.e aftermarket versions of the factory ones you already have, unless its a boost gauge)

but the choice is yours

Very rice i'd say. It looks quite silly having 10 different gauges sittin on your dashboard.

Personally, my car is only race driven, therefore thoses gauges are quite necessary. I have three gauges, oil pressure, water temperature and a tacho with shifter. They are all definatly necessitys, I would be blind without them! Gauges such as oil pressure are very important when you are thrashing your car around 8500rpm like mine. You needd to know before a engine seizer occurs for example by dropping oil pressure.

However I agree, on your average road car that's stock standard, the factory gauges will definatly do the trick :P I agree seeing gauges like exhaust temperature and intake vacume on a standard car is a bit out of it :? , but yeah, thats my opinion 8)
