Its called ph33r.

For those that don't know, ph33r is basically what most 20v owners think of there car/s.
Its a nationwide problem that has no solution. Even if you drum into a few and get them thinking straight and logically, another thousand pop up with even more illogical stories and half truths. Stories can range from "the most powerful 4 cyl under 2000cc"; "If I had slicks I could do 13's easy" and the best of all "Rolling start it keeps up with evos easy."

Earlier in the thread I thought right; I'll set it down what should beat what etc; and thought that would be it; but oh no next thing theres messages saying "But I've beaten this blah blah so I must be faster."

There is a lot of people who think because they beat someone to the other side of the intersection that they have the quicker car. Well; especally in the case of having a 20v next to you; the other guy probably isn't racing you!

I could bleat on and on about this epidemic but hey; this post will already act like dynamite so I think I'll leave it at that. I can almost guarantee that this thread will be locked in a matter of hours becuase of the abuse that is sure to follow.

Hmm; I could write a book......

I'm not sure, but I think this post is a diss on 20vs.

Dude, comparing a 4A-GE to an RB20DET just isn't nice. Skylines can be 8 second cars....20vs, 14 second cars, maybe a little faster.

And in five years, the RB20DET will be shit compared to whatever new engine (Toyota, Nissan, Ford (ugh), whatever) is out.

My point is that....who cares? It's all about the love, man. I love my AE101. It's MINE. And I'm proud of it, for all that it's probably a 16 second car, heh. If I can push her to the limits of HER capabilities, that's good enough. I don't need to beat the fastest car in the world for my Trueno to rock.

ok..................first of all I hve to say WTF!!!!!!!

i don't understand one $&#$% word your saying aye?!?!?!?!?!

and secondly i would hve to fully agree with night kid, it's all the pasion and the love for your car. I love my AE111 she's my lil baby and i don't give a shit if she's not the fastes car out there or if she can't keep up with high-end skylines or whateva.

well gotta say i agree with your post whole heartedly even tho i do personally own a 20 valve! Funny tho i only seem to have arguments with other 20 valve drivers about whose car is quicker :? And then normally only the one's i've already raced!
It's a waste of time trying to say my car will beat such and such cos either a the driver aint trying or b there car is shafted and couldn't beat grandma on her mobility scooter! really everyone should stop the person they just beat and get there name, rego and full list of mods also a date time and temperature reading etc etc so they can say i beat such and such here on this date and it was so hot i was only wearing a g-string! Otherwise your "race" has no real bearing on anything! But hey everyone loves there cars and so of course your going to be a little biased about what you say :)

I kind of agree with all of you a bit. 20v'ers do talk up their cars a bit, but no more than other car lovers. Maybe you see more of it from us because there are so f*cking many 20v's on this site, not to mention on the street.

I think it's healthy to talk youself up, then if someone wants to take you Heads Up, you've got something to back up (unless you're chicken shit).

My Silver top IS the fastest car in the world. The other day I hit the "turbo boost" and everthing jus turned into a blur man. I was like warping past this little RB26DETT Skyline (although it might have been a skoda, not sure), AND THEN I HEARD COP'S SIRENS. Didn't phaser me, just kicked her down to 2nd, flicked on the "warp drive" and blasted up URANUS

standard 20v DONT go hard. My 20v DIDNT go hard.. However after installing a SARD computer, bigger extractors, exhaust.. Now it does. . Ive raced my old flatmates b18c roundlite teg -repeditivly- and we'r even, he admits it. Before I put the computer in, it was slow as shit. Teg's used to shit all over me like i was parked. The 4age is truely a great engine, the 20v is the closest to a race spec engine that toyota has ever made for road use, however you need to know how to drive em.

Spend the money, It WILL go hard. I dont know anyone else to this day who has installed a DECENT computer ie. (not a link) in there 20v.

But hey, I'm probably just all talk eh, cuz I own a 20v.

ROFL

Best post so far Jr007.

All I say is it isn't just limited to 20V'ers ... same old thing that's happened in the IMPORT scene for years : PPL tell everyone how quick their car is but then won't (read WON'T) turn up to compete on the track/strip.

:!: WHEN THE CLUTCH DROPS ; THE BULLSHIT STOPS - ALWAYS !! :P :!:

Cheers,

Paul.
