Hoep that helps.

white smoke is means you are getting water/coolant into the cylinders, usually by way of blown head gasket or cracked head etc.
I should note, however, that practically all cars blow white smoke when cold, and if it goes away after a few minutes then it's nothing to worry about
Oh yeah, are you sure it's just white, or white with a bit of blue in it? if it's the later then that's oil burning, either seeping through the rings or coming through the valve seals.

I was told it means somehow water is getting into the fuel which could mean cracked/warped head, blown head gasket etc...

The radiator is fine, plenty of water. Worn valve seals/guides usually mean oil is seeping into the combustion chambers and should blow black smoke rather.

smoke

Postby JasonZE » Sat Mar 27, 2004 9:24 pm

If its not coolant, on some rare occasions a faulty brake master cylinder can seep brake fluid into the manifold through the booster pipe take the pipe off and make sure its dry...
This fault produces white smoke

does it smoke after ur've given it a bit of sh!t? cos on my car it blew white smoke after a thrashing and it was the valve stem seals, wat kinda oil ya running? cos if the oil is too thin it just leak through the valves after the oil is hot.

Its pretty good when idling but as soon as you pack on a few revs (not much) it smokes like a bitch. You reckon the oil could be a bit to thin, never thought of that

...I willl try that Jason also, but I'm just assuming as the plugs are covered in oil that either...

-oil rings are worn

-valve guides are worn and/or valve seals

-worn cyclinder bores

blah blah blah, so I was just going to do a complete block & head transplant, is this a silly idea?

well i got the same thing on my AW11. pours out white smoke, but only after about a minute of running. and it smells like burnin oil. no blue in it tho, just a big, pure white, cloud of smokey shit. even AFTER i put a bottle of stp smoke stop in. never thought to check the radiator so i might do that. but still, it smells like oil

i thought it might be rings? but after reading this i might just rebuild the head, althought according to ryan (twolitre - on of the previous owners) the head has just recently been given a freshen up :S so i dunno.

any ideas anyone?

months ago when i went out cruising with ma car slapper, my car (MR2 sw20 n/a) smoked white exactly like the way you described it. my mate reckoned it was radiator so i spent ages at the petrol station trying to fill up my radiator with water to no success cos it was packed with crap so u took it to rutherford and bond toyota to get it check out it it appeared that my oil dipstick tube was cracked just by the engine and oil was leaking onto the exhaust which is burning it up making the white smoke. costed me $760 to get it all fixed but this included remoulding a new distick tube, oil and oil filter change, flushing of radiator and refilling it with antifreeze coolant. so check under your car for oil leaks.
