Postby Banga69 » Wed Apr 14, 2004 11:38 am

Hey peoples long story short cruised up to hamilton from wellington then back to Napier the same day 800+ KM. and then back to wellytown total 1250km.
Got to napier and noticed that either my suspesion or springs making a squeaking sound whenever i drive over bumps.
but i cant tell either or? its pretty bad right front.

ohh and my s/charger belts snapped on the way home from napier along state highway 2 15km from Eketahuna  lucky repco was open on monday so i purchased a belt

my cars causing me more trouble then good, spent more fixing/repairing then on modifications. is it time to upgrade?

cheers
clint

Could be bushes or does it sound like metal-on-metal contact?
I was raised by a cup of coffee

sounds more like springs compressing and de-compressing and making a weird sound, more low then high pitch squeak.

i had the same problem in my gtz, i went to taupo for new years, gave it shit some of the way up there, nice whindy road. got into taupo and all of a sudden my suspension was making squeaky noises, but mine was on the front left.

i figured it was just the rubber in the top and bottom of the struts, what the spring sits on, thats what it sounded like. now i thought it may have been because they were hot or warm or something because i left it overnight, drove it the next day and it was gone,

it happens whenever i take it on a really long drive, dont know why, but thats what i thought it was, the rubber in the struts, anyone else have any suggestions.

When i first got my car it was making a "thump thump" sound but that was coming from the rear, after hours looking under the car I found that the sway bar bushes were worn which was causing the sway bar to hit the shock absorber when I went over bumps etc.. I replaced them with nolathane bushes and everything was sweet, untill the all the grease worked its way out of the bush then every time I went over bump it would start to squeak, I replaced the grease and its been fine so far. Check your sway bars by grabing them and pulling it backwards and forwards if there is any major movement ya bushes need replacing.

tru, my car always bottoms out over bumps, it has superlow lovell springs in the front, BRAND new shocks in there ant it still does it, any theory's on that as well, it has all new nolathane bushes though, not tyre on the guard, not hitting bump stops, it's a pain in the ass thouhg, used to be worse before i put new shocks in.

sorry for goign a lil off topic.

My gtz does that everyday, over the speed bump outside my driveway, when started from "cold". Never does it warm though....

I paid $25 a pair, from Autolign in Henderson

The sway bar (also called a stabilizer bar) is a round bar that links the two shock absorbers together.

One of my frieds had a similar problem, and he told me that his mechanic said the ball joint was going bad. I don't know what the heck ball joint is, but that's what was causing his problem.

Good luck!!

Jacked up my car the other day and found out that my lower Arms joints an my s/strut a $&#$% the suspension moves about 5 degress both ways.

first time this happend was over a year ago so i took it to my mechanic had to get it sent away to christchurch to get it fixed $900 later, monh after that it was $&#$% dagain so i took it back, they sent it back down south again got it fixed it was fine up until well 1 week ago.

They said when they fixed it, its suppose to be like brand new condition, so once again im going to take it back to my mechnic and get it shiped down again. of course its going to be free.
