Hey sorry bout all the post just regarding this one car but hey this is what the forum is for.

well for you guys that don't no or haven't read earleir posts, i've been looking for an AE92 gtz for bout 5months, now i've found one i have some issue

the guy told me that when he bought the car it had a "Siezed Camshaft" and he replaced the cambelt when he free it up, i asked about the valves being stuffed and he said they were sweet

now to me that sounds bad, but at least he has told me, before i buy the car it's going for a Toyota Machanical checkup,
your opinions please

he's a machanic, the other thing it say on a speed that reads
123,785km
the "2" and "3" have not clicked over properly is this something to worry about?

cheers

Ive heard that all toyota 4A's are sweet if the cambelt breaks as the top of the pistons are dished and wont hit the valves. Id still get a professional opinion though. Atleast the guys being honest, hes probably telling the truth.

um, you have to ask yourself why the cam seized in the first place.....what ever the reason, you can bet it will have affected more then just the cam, (ie, poor lubrication / oil flow etc).

I wouldnt touch it.

and id also agree with mrbob......
i cant says its a normal 4age thing but they do wear out the cam bearing surfaces if the oil is too old or not up to the correct level. it would be very odd if that was the only damage done....

Hey.... it's a used car and it's cheap.... don't expect it to be perfect !!!! Take it for a drive, run it through the gears including once to redline (on a private road of course) and listen for any unusual noises. Does it pull smoothly away if you let it slow down in 4th to about 30 km/h and then accelerate away ?

Find a steep hill and do a hill start. Does the clutch engage smoothly without any vibration or slipping ? Find an empty piece of road and do a panic stop from 50 km/h. Does it pull up quickly in a straight line without locking any of the wheels ? Does it idle smoothly ? Rev cleanly without missing ? Blow any smoke ? Start first time ?

Check for any sort of fluid leaks from anywhere round the engine or gearbox. Let it cool down and take the radiator cap off. Is there clean or coloured water in there ? Not rusty ? Not milkshake ? Not an oily film ?

Eyeball the fluid levels... water, oil, battery, brake, clutch, p/s, baby's bottle. Are they where they should be ?

If you haven't found a major problem by now, buy the bastard and have some fun :)
