single coil ignition?
if so then there should be a wire running from the coil to the dizzy, you seen to get a feed to the tacho off this wire and use that as your signal for the tach, you will also need an earth and maybe power which you can just tap into the stereo for

Ya know, just as a side note, I stuck a monster tach with shift light into my 2K starlet, every time I'd rev it to hit the shift point (which was only like, 4000rpm), the light would come on, but the car would die.. :D hahah!

oh for a second there i was gonna say eh? i thought u mean the HT lead, lol u defintly dont wnna tap into that one, there will be a real thick wire going from the top of the coil to the top of the dizzy, and then out of the thin wires one should go back to the bottom of the dizzy somewhere, my guess is it will be the straight black wire, but what i would do is test it by hooking up the possitive and negative to the battery, and then puuting the signal on on both the wires coming oput of the coil, it will only work on one of them.

im not sure if pumpn mentiond it before but the fourth wire is the switched illumination wire, and to hook that up u have to find the wire, there will be one either behind ur stereo, or have a look at ur clock, if it dims when u turn the lights on then theres a switched illumination supply there too

ooooohhh, yeah my bad should have been more specific, not the HT lead, thats a big no no, should be a fine as wire which runs from the side of the dizzy to the side of the coil, dont touch the big insulated ht lead unless you wont to run 10,000 volts through it
