Can someone explain boost control to me

say if you were turboing a originally standard NA motor how do you control what level of boost you get?

is it just a matter of choosing the appropriate actuator?

just asking becuase i only want to run 4-5psi and not many factory standard boost cars run as low as that?

Yes, it is all about the actuator. If you want to go as low as 4 or 5 psi then you may struggle to do so. If you can find an actuator that opens at such a low pressure, chances are that it wont fit your turbo and will need a new bracket and possibly changes to the rod length + fitting.

how do people who have turbo'd blue tops go about keeping the boost at 4-5psi so that it can be run with no cooler,std ecu, standard injectors. just as a starting setup

My turbo has an adjustable waste gate actuator. You can adjust the length of the rod for the actuator. I think its an HKS product ( my car came with it) or GReddy/Trust.

When i got my car, it was only running 3 psi, so it can be done.
