Advice on engine

Postby SPiN » Mon Jun 14, 2004 1:01 am

i decided to do a gtz conversion. I was wondering if u guys could give me advice. Ive been talking about it with my mates and they told me to do a gtz conversion and a turbo set up. If i do a gtz engine conversion i would like to turbo it at the same time.

Also do u kno how much it might cost me? i was thinking around bit over 3000 for just the parts..
and the parts i need to buy... at the moment i could think of is, vr4 intercooler, gtz engine (hopefully can find a good one through 'mr revhead'), gear box, turbo manifold, t25 turbos, piping, ecu + loom etc
i kno its no where enough but i have $2000 saved up at the moment.. my car got broken into last tuesday now need to get new windows and need to buy stolen stuff (mini disk etc) so will slow down the conversion a bit...

I will also be getting most of the engine done by a mate, and then finish it off by a mechanic things like ecu etc..

or is there anyother options i should consider?

thanks alot

you r forgeting wiring loom and ecu means the whole interiour has to come out fuel pump (?)
the best part of 3k will go on the engine ecu and loom alone
so youd want closer to 5k

dodsons quoted me about $2200 last year for a 4agze, box computer, loom and driveshafts.

Im assuming you will be keeping your car now ( u mention you were trying to sell it), if not then dont bother.
Cant believe im still a member here.

i rang up the wreckers while i was looking for windows for my car and got a quote of $2300 for the whole gtz front.. including gtz engine, ecu + loom, and all bits that a gtz front would have ^^iii also said he could sell me the engine for around $800 but i need to give him a call when it arrives at end of this month.. not sure what the condition of the engine is in though...

wondering if thats a reasonable deal..

oh yea forgot to add fuel pump.. which fuel pump would u guys recommend me using..

GTZ engines are starting to become very rare, and the prices have gotten right up there. That wreckers price would be an absolute steal with the box/comp/driveshafts etc, all of which you will need for the conversion. I've seen prices nearing on $2000 for the engine alone minus loom, box etc. If your mate is gonna be doing the engine labour that'll save you about $500 odd, depending on the mechanic you'd have gone to. If you're going to do it, it's definately worth doing the turbo conversion while your at it, there's a few 4AGTE's on here now, and im sure all will swear by the turbo over the- as EVLGTZ puts it (hope ya dont mind me stealin yer quote!) - 'pussy' SC'er. AFAIK you'd be the first AE111 4AGZE/TE conversion done, so you'd have something highly original, but don't expect much (if any) change from $5k. Theres a few threads been done with guys like EVLGTZ and others input on the subject, so do a search on 4AGTE man. Sweet
