HIGH idle

Postby Red2 » Fri Jun 04, 2004 3:19 pm

Car is a n/a sw20 mr2
The idle seems to be 1200-1500 even when warmed up.
No mods on car.

What i wanna know is,
What can be casuing this?
How to fix it?
Is it anything serious?

My starlet had that issue too, however the throttle body had just been cleaned. It turns out one of the paper gaskets had a break in it...

check all vacuum hoses between you air cleaner and your tb. Check throttle position sensor. Remove and clean tb completely, including idle stepper motor.

not usually a biggy, not too much of a worry.

If you're quite concerned, take it to a mechanic, it'll be an easy and cheap fix, just go to a good mechanic you trust.
