Can you disable the 4AGZE knock sensor?

Without the ecu pulling the timing?

Need to suss this out, since the NA block we're using doesn't have the hole drilled for the sensor, and it's gonna be a cold day in hell before I pull it all apart just to drill and tap one hole ;-)

Sure you can't adapt it to fit somewhere else?

Fairly sure, I'm guessing the ECU actually knows what it should be hearing even when in a knock-free situation, I tried just earthing the sensor against the engine block, and the CE light still came up...

Have you tried maybe try putting a small resistance (measure resistance of knock sensor) across between the sensor wire and the block (earth)?

This MAY fool the ECU into thinking the sensor is connected (no CE light) and won't cause the engine to retard timing due to false knocking.

Or couldn't you just wire up the sensor but just tape it to a wiring loom or something non metallic? The sensor I think is piezo-electric and will only put out a voltage when it detects a certain frequency at a certain intesity. So if you do this, it shouldn't retard timing.

Just some idea :)
