7AFE issues!!!

Postby [TWZTID] » Fri Jul 09, 2004 11:55 pm

Ok, so I have a 1996 Caldina with a 7afe(2WD). Unlike what it says in the 'sticky' to the site that has info on toyota engines, mine is a single cam engine, twin electric? distributers & a long J shapped throttle bottle if you look at it from side on.
My mate pulls up in a 1997 Carib 4WD with a 7afe, 'normal' looking distributer, & a roughly looking 4age throttle bodie (I saw it outside with not much light). Mine red lines at 6, his a little after 6. The power/speed felt kinda the same. Why are they different?

Dude, if it is a 7AFE then it is a twin cam, the engines could be different for alot of reasons. As you have stated, different year or maybe assembled in a different country, could be because it is 4WD.

4WD would explain his, makes sense.
When I sober up some more I'll go & get my car & find that 2nd cam :D
