Push Button Start - AE101

Postby marke » Sun Aug 01, 2004 8:20 pm

Hi all,
i was thinking of putting in a push button start into my levin. does anyone else have one? or know if it is easy to do i can't see it being that hard.
also where would be the best place to pick up the actual part?
Any advice would be great.

Cheers
Mark

Have a look at the switches available at jaycar, it'd be easy as to hook up.

yeah well you've got to switch the ignition on anyway so unless you want to do that with another switch you're gonna have to use the key to turn it on.... It's just gonna get annoying after a while

yeah ok so it might get annoying, but what happens in an s2000? do you still need the key to get it onto acc or on? i just wanted it for something different really. Maybe i'll bury that idea then. maybe.

Thanks for the replys anyway.

you could wire it so you didnt need they key for acc, but that would just be silly, security wise.
If ya want something different get an alarm with remote starting!, thats kewl. My mongoose can do it, but it'd be a biarch to wire it up.

there's probably some good ways that you could make it work with an alarm etc but it might be a bit more trouble than it's worth

Its not that much trouble to wire up to an alarm, its handy for warming your car up in the mornings etc.. it would be a bit more involed to have a push button start though, got to remove you stearing lock and other bits and pieces.

Push button starter seems like a pure novelty to me. If I was to do it, I'd want a nice big round red button (S2000 styles). For me though, I'll hold off extra little items like that till I upgrade the ride... 8)

You could PM La Femme, her starlie has a push button starter, I think AXNGRL did it while she owned it (pretty sure anyway). One of them should be able to tell ya more about the security aspects...

haha you're classic Adydas. I vote spend the money on petrol and tyres.

But if you're gonna do a trick start button, why don't you go for a MASSIVE nuclear bomb switch style one!!! Like from a jet fighter missile launch on the joystick. Fire those turbines up!!!

The starlet has push button start, but it also has quite a few security measures as well, I won't go into them as its not my car anymore & I ain't telling everyone how to start it :D
