Cuple of 1JZ Q's

Postby Silent Knight » Tue Aug 03, 2004 8:51 pm

i've got a coule of questions here about the 1JZ and the conversion i'm doing:

Keep in mind my supra is a GA70 with the 1G-GTE

1. Does the 1JZ and the R154 bolt straight up?

2. What else would I need cept for the motor and box, ecu and loom for the conversion?

3. If i take out my digi dash and put in a JZA70 analog dash would I need to mod anything else like speedo cable etc keeping in mind i will be using the correct wiring loom.

4. Will the 1G intercooler be able to handle the 1J or would i need to upgrade?

5. Who will be able to wire up everything? Any recommendations on where to take the car to get it all wired up?

Will post other question when i've thought of them.

Cheers

Hanré

3. If i take out my digi dash and put in a JZA70 analog dash would I need to mod anything else like speedo cable etc keeping in mind i will be using the correct wiring loom.

If you swap from the digi dash to analogue you need to get the correct senders for all the gauges. e.g the fuel gauge has a different one
Im not sure about the engine ones, but you may need to keep the 1g oil sender etc.

4. Will the 1G intercooler be able to handle the 1J or would i need to upgrade?

The 1j one is bigger isnt it?, the 1g would work, but not be as efficent.
Cant believe im still a member here.

Yip - But the MA70's also came with the R154's. Make sure the R154 that youre getting has the JZ Bellhousing

2. What else would I need cept for the motor and box, ecu and loom for the conversion?

Front pipe, JZA70 one is unique, and actually i think each front pipe is unique to the chassis config. As i have told you earlier also.. make sure you have JZA70 mounts - yip yip

3. If i take out my digi dash and put in a JZA70 analog dash would I need to mod anything else like speedo cable etc keeping in mind i will be using the correct wiring loom.

I think all you need is the plugs and dash from a analouge setup aswell as the speedo cable...

4. Will the 1G intercooler be able to handle the 1J or would i need to upgrade?

I'll slap you silly if you use a 1G cooler :P ther tiny... MA70 is bigger and the JZA70 one is bigger yet again.

5. Who will be able to wire up everything? Any recommendations on where to take the car to get it all wired up?

We'll do it! :D i havent done one yet... but i think we can manage ;)

Well then it seems that we are all go for the conversion

Just have to go buy the motor and the tranny now...the one that I've found is from a soarer so it'll have the wrong engine mounts.

I'll see if I can source engine mounts and then I'll be able to get the motor and the tranny etc etc otherwise I'll have to wait untill I can source a motor out of an actuall MKIII supra.

Cheers for all the help.

Hanré

ps. Adrian.....I just wanna if the cooler will work untill Si makes a nice bling bling BIG one
