1g eu in cressida

Postby 79 bug eye » Sat Aug 28, 2004 3:21 am

I have a single cam 1g eu that i want to put a twin cam head on to make it better to turbo.
Does it bolt straight on?
Do i have to change my loom?

If someone could help that would be great.

Thanks

Why not just drop in a 1G-GTE? Engines are dirt cheap, bullet proof and lots of fun - only really let down by the crappy small twin turbos

Cheers

yeah just go with the 1ggte conversion, easier and will be more reliable.

talk to Robin (undertow) on this forum as he did the same conversion.

If you're gonna go that far why not a 7M?

because he would then need the following
5mge sump
m series crossmember
5mge oil pick up
5mge mounts

where as he would just need a 1ggte and use the 1geu sump, oil pick up etc.

well if you have a budget of less than lots and lots of money, then 7mgte is the most cost affective conversion for an m series car.

you need custom mounts for thre 2jz, and 2jzs arent cheap, then you need the gear box, probably need a soarer 1jz front bowl sump with oil pick up (maybe custom oil pick up)

while you were at it, you would probably want to run an after market ecu to make the wiring abit easier on yourself.

i say if it has a 1g engine go with 1ggte (single turbo, bigger fmic, more boost and exhaust and intake)

m series go with 7mgte (make sure you get friendly with an engine reconditioner)

if money is no concern, 1uz for lots of torque and burnouts (would be awesome cruiser)

1jz or 2jz if you want big power.

Hey man. If you decide to use a 1GGTE just tell me and I'll tell you exactly what you need. I've done it twice, engines are mostly around the $800 mark.

I just bought a 1GE Cressida which I'll probably use my other 1GGTE in when I've rebuilt it.
