High Revving :D

Postby CozmoNz » Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:58 pm

Ok, in the future i plan on putting in 12:1 compress pistons, metal head gasket, lightened flywheel, new trd rings rods bearings, if possible, or as light as i can get em.

etc, u get the point, ill buy it all then get the engien rebuilt and drop everything in @ same time.

question is, with running high compression, on 96 *dunedin* petrol, will this be fine? or at 8k rpm can i expect a loud dink dink sound :D.

high revving + nz fuel = good? or = very bad?

i had my old 20v at 12:1 running on av but then one day i had to run it on pump gas (98 with octane booster) and it was tolerable.

if your thinking about running 12:1 on the road (reliably) you better think again.

trd don't make rings for standard pistons.

also 8000rpm is nothing

well, the blacktop runs 11:1 right now.

and on 96 its running fine, takes it nicely to redline :).

probably be retarded by the ecu though, not getting half the power its capiable of.

yeh i know 8k is nothing, but alas. it was an example man.

so what is reliable for road use, a hot cam? both cams? ported intake plenium's (if thats what they are called... throttle body housings), and polished exhaust manifold?

just what can i use reliabley for good power increase, but not loss of road usability.

if you wanna run 12:1 you wont be able to use 96.

fact is ae101s are on the limit with 96 so ae111 wont be any better, it be as retarded as a certain levin fan around here....

id say go with late ze/silvertop rods. cams and head work from some one like kelfords, TRD gasket, and aftermarket ecu.

but high n/a power and drivability arnt usually in the same sentance...

that is man :(.

that rally car makes 180 odd wheel power @ 9,000rpm.

however suppoziably he can let it rev right up to 13,000 to make more power.... but would have alot less low end.

which it needs ;P

what a funny man.

You would be better off puttign a turbo on it if you want more power, easier and cheaper.

Stop being dipshits and get over yourselves.

Just because you are dumbasses that were dropped on your heads at birth, doesnt mean you have to blame your stupidity on me.

You are the idiots that bought the 20vs not me.

Feel the love 8)

btw have you got a silver top or a black top 20 valve?

if you have a black top your in the right place to start with

my suggestion is get a set of decent cams and a better ecu, link or motech whatever you can afford...

then some extractors etc etc

bearing in mind you have to do this all at the same time to get the benifits :D

 Lets give the guy a break, he's obviously been beaten by a few well sorted 20v's  and holds a bit of a grudge!! When petrol gets so expensive that he cannot afford to even put his foot down to try and give chase, i'll still be zipping around getting typically good mileage from my 20v

Why bother spending assholes just too make a pig of a road car? Get a low boogie turbo slapped on.

I thought 11:1 was silly enough in the 944 and that wasnt a little 1600 with no bottom end to start with.

How much hp would you expect to get and what would it cost to build a 12.1 cr 4age??? :?
lickem.
