for a k series..

-BIG porting

-10:1 CR (this can be done by replacing head and pushrods with previous generation engine eg. 3k head on 4k etc.

-reground cam

-extractors, exhaust etc

-ramflow filter or similar

selection of carb options, downdraft or SIDEZ!!! An easy way to upgrade to twin downdraft carb, is to find some off a 3k-b, they floating around. KE25/35 had them. or you could do what i did on my old 4k, get a mainfold from kelford and chuck some twin 45mm delorto SIDEZ. Therz a few options available, some keeping factory manifold, and getting an adapter plate made to mount foreign carb on factory intake manifold

If u really want to keep going thers other things like lightweigt rods/rockers, and a electronic ignition upgrade from KP62 starlet can prove effective in more accurate timing etc.
Good thing about k series engines is that they r so basic and easy to work on 8)

Rob's original 4k in his starship would rev all day to 8 without being stressed, 9 if you were angry. Alas, it now sits on the floor looking pathetic next to the mighty SR20DET.
His had
Ported and planed head with oversized valves
Flowed intake mani (with twin Sidedraft dellorto 40s)
Flowed headers into 2.25" exhaust
A cam so big that it won't idle under 1700rpm
Lightened flywheel mated to 5speed box
New pistons and ring set(standard from ACL)

No power under 4000rpm, but very quick if kept above. And it sounded glorious.
Going into a KE20 now.

no point putting the factory twin carbs on them, the manifold desing means it only sucks from on carb throat at a time, and the twin carbs are smaller than the one card set up. you really need a better manifold and some side draughts!! or i could sell you an injection set up!
injection on its own doesnt make much mor epower but i think the torque is better

Might wanna chuck some decent valve springs in there too. They may seem like they'll be right up to about 7500-8000 but I wouldn't be trusting them.

STD valve springs wont do much more than 5 - 6000 rpm
