How can they state bhp gains?
I mean, the same filter wont yeald the same gains on any engine!
Other than that, ive seen a few similar reviews before. Its quite interesting how much marketing plays a part in sales of different brands.
I expect there is a review out there somewhere that conflicts with this one- there always is. Intresting read but.

to be honest i didnt really post it for the hp gains to me thats just bollucks

i was more interested in the level of filtration
with todays turbo compressors small particals can be fatal
to me there sould never be a compramise between filtration and power gains

I agree. The results for the HKS Mega Flow are a bit of a worry!

Apexi just gained points in my books!

maybe they should also mention cost in the test, because that would be a deciding factor in most buyers..

Look under the heading "Cost" for the cost of the filters. Tells you what the cost is of the filters incase you were looking for the cost so you could buy it at the cost price to people.

Can you put a price on your beloved engine?

they didnt add the $30 filter from repco in those tests...

Glad i've got an Apexi super intake filter!!

to clean filter what exactly do u do??

i've been told chuck it in a bucket of kerosene for 1/2 an hour and put back on,
any other ways of cleaning a pod filter like an apexi??

I'm not too sure about the kerosene, but if you do, let it dry COMPLETELY first!

My dad had an old diesel with an air filter that could be cleaned with petrol. However, the instructions were that you had to let it dry for something like half a day.
He left gave it a blow with an air compressor and left it in the sun for a bit and thought that was dry enough. Put it back in started it up.
He SWEARS that the thing must have got up to 10,000rpm!! It scared the shit out of him so he ran and just let it run until it slowed down! Needless to say, the engine then progressivly died over a week.

Repco sell K&N filter cleaning kits which come with the cleaner for the filter and fresh filter oil to put on it once its dried out.

ahh that old article, lost my link for that a year or 2 ago. Still worthwhile read.

Basically it comes down to flow vs filteration. Gotta find the best combo between them.

and yep those HKS filters are pretty crap in regards to filteration.

haha but Apexi is the best hehehe

I'd say theres been a few improvements to some of the filters of the many years since the article was written.

Someone should do some tests of those cheap as K&N 'style' pods that you can pick up for $20-30. Would be interesting
