linkage and rack and pinion steering systems.

there are 4 in total, just the two i said plus add on power steering.

so anyway, rack and pinion is exact, think of it as *all the peices are tight as*...... *tight as what.... is the question*

anyway, and linkage is the same... when in the factory, truth is, move it alot, and everthing gets loose... loose as ya mums goose.

oh god im having fun :D.

anyway, linkage is loose as, and horrid to steering with, if you stood outside the car, looking at the wheel, and twitched the steering wheel back and forth, quite away, like 10-20cm, on a R&P system, youd see the wheel turn at the ground, even a wee turn on the steering wheel, the wheels turn.

with linkage is quite different, if you do this, you wont see any or very little movement at the wheels, becase everything *loose* is getting squeeshed, hehe my word, SHUDDUP.

so the result is you dont get any steering at the wheels undersmall movements.

basically, you got the shit version over the better one.. sorry man.

just to clarify; recirculating ball steering is most probably what your 82 dx will have, in which case the X you have bought should be sweet.
If not, it will be rack and pinion steering (way more precise, less play).. if it dosent fit you will need to get it modified which can be done pretty easily, just chopthe mounts off your existing X member and have them welded on to the new one.
