gt turbo questions

Postby ELOK » Thu Nov 18, 2004 11:03 pm

Hey guys, been a while since i been on here, sorry bout that, ive recently moved to wellington (porirua) and no longer have a computer

anyways i have a few Qs about my 92 gt turbo starlet.

1, I want a louder, nicer sounding exhuast note, how do i achieve this? i already have a 2.5" full exhaust with 4" tip all RPS brand. but its still not very loud. will gutting the cat do it? and does the fuel pump have anything to do with it?

2. on the subject of fuel pumps: will a standard p10 primera fuel pump be any upgrade on my standard one i have in my gt starly now? what effects will it have? effect on fuel economy?

3. i want more power, what are the best steps towards this? i dont really have any engine mods yet apart from pod, boost controller and SSQBOV, and exhuast. i will be FMIC'ing it early next year, apart from that what else can i do, and please keep in mind im not made of money so i cant go spending thousunds.

Thanks for ur help guys.

Peace

1. Yes, gutting the cat will make it louder - is it a full 2 1/2 all the way from the cat? Best combination is a resonator and a muffler (like the RPS one). No a fuel pump wont affect noise at all.

2. Probably, but why do you want to upgrade the fuel pump? A Supra/ MR2 Turbo one would probably be a better bet. If anything, it'll decrease fuel economy, but the standy FPR apparently can bring the rail pressure to normal.

3. Cold airbox, high flowed CT9, FMIC (Supra or VR4 or summat) or maybe a Link or similar ECU?

I'm sure the people at Starlet Central will be able to help you more

thanks for the help. i tried there, but no answer and the fact that they have posts that are nearly 3 years old at the top of the threads is a tad alarming tot heir reliability.

thats great advice thanks.

with the fuel pump, the reason i asked about such a random one is that i can have it for free cos my mate upgraded his primera turbo with a gtir one so i can have his old one. just wondering what it will do and whats the point in it.

i was gona go with a vr4 FMIC so sweet, ECU's cost heaps dont they?
cold air box will come soon hopefully as i can make it myself.

thanks fo rthe help.
