I have researched this conversion many, many times, as my old man drives an AE82.. and I had dreams... wild, wild dreams..

Basically, if you're just going to throw an AE82 fxgt bluey into it, its pretty much a bolt in, "(that is, if you're running a 4A-C like ours) but changing the fuel lines, hooking up an electric fuel pump etc is a lot of hassle. I also looked at GZE conversions, from memory, you have to play around with the rear mount, but otherwise it's a bolt in. You can't use the factory 4AC gbox with the GZE, as the flywheel and clutch are too tall to fit into the bell housing. You can use the factory gbox for the blue top, but I believe you may have to mix and match flywheels and clutches to make it fit, (4ages are 6 bolt flywheels, 4A-C are 5 bolt(?)) and FXGT rear discs and suspension etc will also bolt in, with little or no modification. I have sheets and sheets of info on this conversion, so if you want more info, PM me, as I don't think the sites I got them off are still around.

Why didn't I do it? I found out that Toyota made an AE82 GT sedan already, and they cost bugger all.. read = much, much cheaper option!

Cheers.

Nice! I still have dreams of making dad's car supercharged.. its begging for it! If you're doing the conversion from the GT, everything's just a swap, I'd say you'd get the mechanical side of things done in a weekend. Then add a couple of months to sort the wiring out! :D
