could you tell me what that would look like- what colour wire or what the point i need to plug into looks like?

You know what your distributor looks like? Follow the single wire back, thats the coil. the other 4 will go a different way and go to the engine.

Did you find it? Coz AFAIK 2E's have the coil buit into the dizzy. In which case it is the wire coming out of the dizzy with a green plug on it, probably has a cover over the end of the plug.

thanks for that- i hadnt quite got around to it when i read your post, just when i was feeling crap because my simple little 1.3 corolla was stumping me it turns out its not as simple as i thaught :oops:

HAHA know how you feel, I had a EE90 for 2 years and it got the better of me many atime!! Thats when I came to my senses (or lost them completely) and dumped a 4AG in there 8O
