late model Ze pistons with 20V head

Postby lorolla24 » Sun Jan 09, 2005 9:03 pm

Can anyone tell me if you have to use the early model ze pistons with the dishing at the top to clear the valves from the 20v, or is it possible to use the later model ae101 ze pistons aswell??? going to turbo my 20v.

its just becomes a interferance head
so dont brake a cambelt and youll have no issue

isn't a STD 20v an interferance engine anyway?

(That's a question not a statement)

Piston to valves yes, but inlet and exhaust valves can still meet and make a mess.

The older ZE pistons (AW11) will not clear the oil squirters in the 20v bloack and will need to be machineed to clear, but the newer ZE pistons have a slot already for them.
Ive done the 20v turbo conversion and nufing hits as long as you have the cambelt set correctly you are safe, otherwise you'l bend a valve or 2 somewhere along the way (rebuild head time)

I want to keep the std one cause its been designed to give the engine low down response i believe, So i want to know where it breaks?? I could have a guess and say on the bottom where it has been folded togther and if it is i will just mod that area and beef it up alot.

Doe's ANYONE have some pics or know where they break???
