Yeah, the lower radiator tube emerges from quite high up on the block -- though I don't know how far down the water jacket goes. Repeated flushing does seem to clear everything out but it takes a while waiting for it to cool down and heat up. I flushed then used a cleaner and I'm about half way through.
I think I can see the block plug where you said it would be. But, since I don't have my axle stands or a really long socket extension, or even a good torch with me at the moment, it looks like even more of a PITA than multiple flushing.
