'tonymiller' does them. Real nice for Silver or Black top.

$240 set from memory.

Search on 'for sale/wanted' section should find details.

Fully depends on length. You may develop a few more HP, you may loose. I'd suspect those sexy looking red ones would kill performance... far too short.

Also if your looking at the TOMS trumpets, I understand that they may reduce your overall HP for a small increase in mid range.

This is getting boring... research Helmholtz

yea those r the ones i saw on trade me....... apparently not very good as they just suck the hot air that rises from around the exhaust u would have to either get air blowing accross them of a supercharger bonet so that cold air got into them

how much did they cost, and what performance increase did you get?

ok, the guy with those red ones... im talking to on msn...

he cant speak english so well, so im trying here!

turns out that *they are bad to use without an air filter, but the car goes better* - Better? I think he means *harder* in kiwi

*improves responciveness...* *power increases, but since is N/a it isnt not huge improovement*

and *they are product of Imec*

But thats about it >.>

Just a short note, those red ones are meant for use inside a plenum. Hence why they're so short.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

The ones you have been offered are the same ones I have suggested & as used on Drifter4ag's and many others with good results.
There is obviously a science to the length of these items, although have generally used 70mm long items and found excellent all round on street & track; Im sure you may be able to order a specific length if you have been recommended specific lengths, possibly due to 'built' engine, etc.
They have been well designed & tested, and are fantastic quality.
Possibly some quick net research as suggested will determine if they are what you are after :D

the black box goes around them..

youll lose low end torque (what the long tubes provide), but gain high end..... since there is less restriction on the intake system >.>

just get these and get a cai... that way you dont need to worry about heat from the exhaust heating your intake etc. (like idividual filters do).

only chance of them making a gain is if they are in the plenum... out of it... you lose in alot of ways.
you can also goto a carb shop an find the closest match an make the mounting holes a lil biger... after all there only "ram tubes"

if you do research the helmholtz theory, you'll soon see that the ones Nite B sells are as good as you'll get for ae86.

Karl, Helmholtz fully depends on inlet cam timing, port diameter, velocity and where you want to add the punch in your rev range (generally you aim to have it low in the rev range to keep a flatter torque curve). The mathematics are quite involved. Hence the length for the silvertop will be quite different to that of the blacktop.
I calculated my inlet trumpets to be 17 inches from the valve face. Thats with 304 degree cams timed at 110 degree centers and some very small ports, running silvertop TB's

Saying that your probably right. Considering a standard airbox those trumpets will probably be the best you can get, other than standard. It would be interesting to dyno them.
The answer is Helmholtz!

17" is good.
My 3SGE valve->trumpet makes about 16" with niteb trumpets.

yeah, the maths is around.
