ne way simple question by replacing the standard exhaust on a 96 trueno BZG / AE111 how much extra hp/kw am i going to gain, will i notice it or not........now this is a simple number and yes or no answer so i dont want ne confusing crap posted

THANX :D

You may notice the difference, but it will most likely be a placebo effect. At the end of the day, simply freeing up the exhaust of a car which isnt particularly restricted in the first place isn't going to make a huge difference, and it's mostly wank, until you've done some real mods.

In numbers, the difference is approximately 5/8's of $&#$% all.

edit: And by the way, you dont need to get your knickers in a twist because you cant understand what are basically simple terms. This is an enthusiast forums, so it stands to reason you should have at least a basic knowledge before posting here. You need to realise that most things on cars cant be measured as simply as "bolt this on and you'll get x extra hp".

Dr-X is right, you will really need some other mods done to get the most out of it, but it will still make a bit of difference on a stock motor. Whether or not you notice it, is another story though.

It may sound faster and feel faster, but in measurable performance, it will make bugger all difference.

You need to get VTEC :D

A cold intake and exhaust will make a small difference now... but they lead to and enhance all other mods.

Do it but try not to get a stupid loud one that gets you in shit every time you go to the dairy to buy a porno.

Blacktop's are VVT, not VVT-i :P.

and its more, the fact that the car will shake slightly, and FEEL more powerful.... it may help in the high end, but its barely measureable since its non turbo :P.

but either way, i say its worth the price, up to you though.

well, you COULD say they are inteligent... just like a vb program is intilegent... (spelling x2!)

when certain prerequisites are met, it will send a 12v supply to the vvt cam... thus switching it on.

but only when it meets them, now... saying if it needs to MEET them, means it knows the difference.

but thats like saying a Relay know's when a curent runs through it... no it dosnt, it just does what its built to do!

so basically, when the ecu sees that engine = above x temp, and rpm = x and throttle pos = x and all of the above are met... it turns it on (youll feel it at around 2600rpm if you plant it in second gear from 1500ish... i think its around there for me, i cant really remember. but meh, a slight change in pull >.>

but meh, silvertops and blacktops do the same thing. the blacktop is just better balanced etc. (see other thread). Basically, when a = x & when b = x then goto c...

c = send 12v supply to vvt cam >.> vvt turn on, car go better / faster / harder..... also known as more overlap... by 30degrees >.> get it turning on at idle and youll hear it ^_^.

vvt-i is when the ecu controls how many degrees to advance or retard the cam to provide the best torque / power output... of course, if we had that, it would be the shizzle :D.

bah, im probbably wrong, but thats how i understand it.

Twas a joke

Do your exhaust (the whole thing.. not just a tip)
Make a cold air box and get a pod filter (there is debate as to whether it's better to just buy a K&N panel filter to replace your factory one)

Then it starts getting expensive.

To be honest I think the Honda NA crew have a lot of good ideas as well and it's worth browsing NZHondas tech section if you're after some more info

Aa far as I knew... The silver top was simply on or off, and the black top could adjust how far to advance the cam was. Hence the "i" labeling, but then I'm no expert, I stick to the good old 16v's

No the blacktop's are still on or off. VVT. Not variable. Not VVT-i

Altezza's are VVT-i.

indeed you do....

can you fit VVT to a 4agze? and is it tunable? sounds like a stupid question and probably is but that would give me torque after 6000rpm would it not?

then again so would aftermarket cams...

oh yeah and ive been wanting to ask this for a while... why cant you have VVVVVT? variable variable variable etc that just keeps varying the cam position until your revving until like 15000rpm? (aside from the fact your engine would go ping)

yeah another stupid question but please dont flame me just answer... :)

In 1991 another version of the 4A engine came along, the 20 Valve. This had many different changes most notably the 5 valve head, a new 4 port intake manifold, and a VVT system. This was the first production engine in history with a 5 valve head, this innovation being sourced directly from Yamaha Formula 1 experience. As a result, the power once again went up, this time to a very impressive 165 HP. This engine was used in the Levin/Corolla, neither of which were available in the US. In 1996 this engine received the "VVTi" designation signaling a new ECU. The i stands for "intelligence" which decides the rpm at which the timing is changed. This along the switch from the AFM air sensor to the MAP sensor helped to boost HP by 5.

ur all going to say dont believe everything u see on the net but i thought id just post this see what u guys think. unless im reading it wrong which is highly posible it says the black tops 96 and onwards r vvt-i....

lol the vvt system in ae111s runs ??% off the throttle and ??% off the revs is that right?? im pretty sure thats what i got told and thats part of what made it VVT-i

there not the first 5 valve production engine
they are vvt not vvt-i
vvt-i = varible advance
vvt = 2 position advance

the onkly differece in the system from the silvertiop to blacktop is 15 degress of change instead of 10 dgrees

it pulls to earth to activate it
it swtichs off at high rpm and switches on as soon as you give it gas at low rpm

i doubt the change to map helped hp at all

doing a full exhaust from the headers to the tip will yeald better results than a cat back system

in red mists words im tired of this
thgi is simple easy and has been gone though many times before
hell theres even a sticked threed to clear up this stuff
use the search function and it will help a lot
