my FXGT did that when i was push starting it, i have blown out one of the rear mufflers. might be the same thing. it had been repaired before, and i blew a hole in the side of it. but thats what ya get for having a factory exhaust thats done 404xxxkm. nice carbon build up to ignite.

If its a constant deep knocking noise, then it'll probably be a big end bearing gone up the $&#$%.

Yep, its pretty major, and yup, in that guise, that motor is toast. Get it towed to a mechanic, and they can fit new big end bearings and regrind the crank, or alternatively fit a 2nd hand engine.
With the availability of 4AGZE's being the way it, its probably gonna be easier to rebuild it 8O
Dont drive it anymore thats for sure, or you will have a ventilated block.

$1k for all the work, if you can assemble, clean and pull apart yourself

probably need a crank grind and polish, new bearings to suit and may have to get your conrods resized.

probably need a bore hone as well

might as well do rings etc while you are at it

depends how much time u got, i take it its a daily driver so u don't want 2 b away with it for long?
finding the parts unless u in the trade is the hardest part. if u have the skills 2 do it obviously it will be cheaper if u want a garage 2 do it it'll be a few g's!

I spent over 2k on my last freshenup on my gtz.
That was with bits at cost, but also included guides, 5 angle valve job,
waterpump all belts and tensioners, supercharger oil etc, the list goes on.
Mr Autosure picked up most of the bill!!!!
If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks it needed replacing anyway!

Look around for a second hand motor. If you can find a guy who imports them he sells a motor for about 1200-1400 dollars.

By the sounds of it you have run a big end bearing and if its not too bad then will cost pritty close to 1k anyways if you canot do any mechanical work your self.

Get a second hand motor then take your time and re build that one and make it strong for turbo an lots of boost.
