Mr2 4agze into ae101 agze or 20v

Hi is it possible to do the above conversion , as my motor has done its big end bearing , and this is the only motor I have come across after ringing/emailing almost every wrecker around in Auckland , also is 1700 dollars a rip off for the motor , I also asked about just replacing with a 20v and they reckon this is alot of mucking around , is this true.

I wouldn't bother going down the route of replacing your engine with a 20v as you might regret it in the end and yes $1700 is a lot of money for a 15yr+ second hand engine!
I prob wouldn't put a AW11 4AGZE into your AE101 either as there could be some differences with the inlet and supercharger arrangement and if there is your gear won't bolt onto it because the early gze uses a big port head whereas yours uses small port as well as a distributor setup on the AW11 etc.
My advice would be to either keep looking for an AE101 4agze or see if someone could bring one in for you at a reasonable cost or otherwise simply rebuild what you've got, will probably cost you about the same as a second hand engine if you can remove the engine yourself and parts can be aquired from Mr Revhead for very reasonable prices.

No, definately dont bother with an older 4AGZE. if you had an AE92 then it mightnt be so bad.
As for the 20v route, well it'd be cheap, but your car would be slower off the mark, and be harder to get to go quicker.
just keep hunting dude, you'll find one eventually. And dont expect much change from $2k either demand has driven these things up something shocking.

Another option is to possibly buy a cheap 20v, slot your pistons in there, and get a custom manifold made up for a T28

i have acsess to a 4agze..... just trying to confirm the type and price
they certainly are not cheap as mmm boost said. which is very silly as they are hardly different from a non s/c. $1700 for a aw11 one is a bit excessive though... id want the loom, ecu and box for that.

slotting a 20v in place of a 4agze is just silly. the ratios are all wrong and its not as easy as a simple bolt in, theres a few loom differences.

For that money, I'd be looking at a rebuild of your engine. Will be much nicer than a 2nd hand engine.

Dr-X is right, for that cash you may as well rebuild what you have and know that you have an as-new engine sitting in there.

If you still want to buy another motor, then I'd be keen to buy your
broken motor off you for parts. It doesnt have to be complete!
At least then youve got some more money to put towards a new engine.
Let me know, I'll give you reasonable money for it.

Another idea,

Buy a 20v engine,
Slot in your pistons, ( or buy new ones)

and use that bottom end on all your old head s/c etc.

Good as new.
