fog lights

55w or 110w fogs?

looking for ones with the biggest spread, but have to fit in the lower front bumper of a 89 celica.

For the best spread the 110's are gonna be beta, but im not sure if the extra $$$ is worth it.

just want to know peoples experience and opinions with them.

Cheers

do you get alot of fog there as they are becoming illegal to use on good days :S as the new laws state as of the 27th of this month :(

Vehicle fog lamps

Vehicle fog lamps must only be used when conditions are such that your visibility is severely reduced – eg by snow or thick fog. You must not use fog lamps under clear atmospheric conditions as you could dazzle other road users.

for more on other stupid new laws look withen.

you would be better going with maybe driving lights??

i live in dunners, its like constantly raining, lol

man the law is becoming more and more BS everyday.

im not planing on using them in broad daylight, they are lights.......best used when lighting conditions arnt good, eg fog, rain and/or at night.

I do drive through alot of fog, doesnt help with mates living in the middle of the wop wops.

well, 100 w are illegal on a road car from what ive been told.

as you saw, they blinded you, when you were on a hill, and the foggies faced DOWN.

but i say go for them, bloody good on whare flat :) you see EVERY stone :).

and install them *correctly* not the way we did..

relay is live when the park lights go on... means we can use the foggies whenever we have.. park.. normel or high beams on :).

No, they are in some countries in europe which is why hella dont make bulbs for headlights over 100w.

You can go as high as you like in NZ.

My car has 140/100 bulbs in the headlights.

As long as the bulb has either an ADR or ECE certification. But I don't think anyone would ACTUALLY check this. This applies to anything bulb that is over 55W except for headlights which are 55/60...

Just use 55W fogs. If you've got some good lens/reflectors then they light up the road pretty good. Just spend some money on decent units, I vote Hella, but Narva would be okay too. Be wary of brands like Maxilite. A friend had a pair, when he sold his car, one of the lights was basically just a reflector and lens, the rest of the casing had rusted away...
Make sure you wire them well. Relayed with a separate switch so they can be on whenever the parks are on, but with an independant cut off.
