Using the SAFC to adavantage on a 4AGTE

Postby 1598cc » Sun Feb 13, 2005 8:30 pm

Any flaws in this setup other than itll run advanced timing:

Replace 365cc injectors with VR4 450cc injectors.
Wind back timing to 0degrees
Wind back fueling on SAFC to cover for extra flow
Run 15psi

Would like to try get away with expensive dyno tuning, so am just going to work out fueling by formulas, plus abit more fuel for safetly.. unless there is a cheap way to tune it ?

Mines been hitting 15 lately and not having any issues (standard injectors and computer). You must have got dodgy injectors or something Bazda ;)

Note: Boost cut is evil and I want it to die

Ummm.... timing is knocked back a couple of degrees. Still at 8ish I guess (haven't check it for a while). Been running at about 10ish psi for a few months without any trouble, autometer A/F gauge reads fairly rich even over 10psi, reads rich on a dyno also which is nice to know. The 15psi boost cut is only on the MAP sensored GTZs, not on the AFM jobs which is what Bazda is running. EVLGTZ is/was running 18psi but on aftermarket computer

yeah AFM has no boost cut as far as I know.

Map is just over 1 bar.

I've run the car up to 22-23psi on this setup with no issues whatsoever. Tuned so still got some excess fuel up there for safety.

Dont really have much of a need to run that boost tho. 8)

Ah ok. yeh i know all about fuelcut from having many GTti's .

i still got my timing set standard.. dont hava timing light so cant really knock it bak... ( bazz!! )

ill take the car to the next torque performance dyno day and get some a/f readings from 10psi to 15psi.

HRT.. still running standard fuel pump??

Standard everything pretty much, turbo bolted on and away it went. Just about to click over 290,000kms too. Rego runs out at the end of the month so out its coming for a complete rebuild.

nope got my injectors flow tested and they were fine.
as soon as i go over 12psi it leans off big time!! thats if i dont turn on my extra injector, maybe my turbo flows better than what other guys are using.....i also have an rx7 pump.
When I took brendon from nite parts for a ride on 15psi and no extra injector he said this cant be right its going to fast!!, then couple days later it blew.

13.5 was on 15psi with a 0-60ft of 2.3s, basically did the same time on 13-14psi cos i coudlnt get off the line, but the worse thing was when i hit 2nd i lost all my time in that gear.
