T25g rebuild price estimates

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Fri Feb 18, 2005 3:46 pm

Hi,

I think my turbo is on its way out, it smokes (engine compression is good so must be turbo).

Pretty sure its a Garret T25g, has Garret A/R .80 M24 written on it.

Can any body give me an idea on prices to expect for basic rebuild or even what options there are for upgrades.

Would be good to know, so ive got a bit of judgement on who to take it to.

Most rebuilds tend to start around $300 for new seals. Turbo tech do it for $350-$450.

If you engine is smoking and compression is good there are various other things it could be before turbo.

Is there oil in the piping after the turbo?

I just bought the car as a project and im still sorting things out, so i thought the most likely thing would be the turbo as it a complete unknown.

I originally thought it had been over filled with oil but now that ive done an oil change it seems that the dipstick isnt the right one because it read way over full with just 2L!

So i put in 3.5L as a guess for now. Btw does anybody know exactly how much an 87' 4agze holds (oil)?
