FOUR_AGE not sparking, HELP

I have just replaced my engine loom, dizzy, dizzy cap, rotor and leads.
I replace the loom as it was butchered and the dizzy cos it was lost/misplaced/thrown out

I tried to start the engine today but it wont spark.

I put an inductive timing light on the coil-dizzy lead and thats not sparking either.

I bridged the check connector and the light only flashes once, but if I unplug the coil/ignitor it still only flashes once so that tells me $&#$%.

After doing searches I see everyone says to check if theres power at the coil, how do I do that if its always pulsing?

How do I check that the dizzy is fine as I suspect that may be the problem.

IIRC, there shoud be constant 12v at the coil. just check it with a multimeter with the ignition on. if you have no power, then try again while the engine is cranking. Mine only sparked when cranking when I first put my engine in, but the problem will be different to yours if you get the same symptoms 'coz mine has two looms joint together and I was missing a wire.

I'm more than likely wrong, but I thought the ECU had a repeating cycle blink. Even to tell you that there are no messages.

Yea, it has a repeating blink. It goes bilnk long pause blink long pause etc. That is supposed to be fault code 1 which means everythings fine.

I checked the + pin on the coil for voltage with the key on but it was only getting .5v

I had a look at a wiring diagram and although its not 100% accurate it gave me a fair idea. The coil is (should be) fed constant 12v which comes from a fuse on the battery through the ignition switch. The ecu then switches the negative.

Pulling the lower dash off I found the worst alarm installation ive ever seen. Ive seen better wiring on cars that have been boosted (ripped off)

The wire going to the coil has been spliced into for the alarm and id bet my left nugget that thats the problem.

Could be something as simple as a bad earth ay, that happened to me yesterday as i was cleaning the engine bay. Removed a bracket to clean crap off and tried to start (just turned over but no spark) turned out the bracket was the earth... lol

Just a guess.

The alarm was wired into the back of the ignition switch so I replaced it with a spare one. Now the charge light comes on but the coil is still not getting voltage.

I think my wiring diagram may be wrong cos I used the multimeter to find which pin on the coil/ignitor plug was connected to the coils + terminal. When I traced this wire I found it went through a fuse in the enginebay labled 'INJ' to the ecu.

Does anyone have any reliable wiring diagrams for the ae82 fxgt with a 4age?

Is the coil supposed to have voltage on it when the key is in the 'on' position but the engine is not going?

Ive double checked the earths and the coil is bolted town tight.

Just checked on mine, coil gets a constant 12v with ignition on. Cant help with the diagram though sorry, ive lost all mine.

Got the F**ker going. The diagrams were right. The wire did go to the INJ fuse but it also went to the injectors, ecu and a mystery plug. Turns out the two looms wernt exactly identical and the power feed wire had a different plug on it which I thought was from the A/C or something.
