Mounting Bov

Postby CozmoNz » Sun Feb 27, 2005 10:24 am

Would there be any downfalls at all to mounting a recirculating bov directly after the turbo compressor outlet?

with the inlet returning directly before the inlet obviously.....

other than heat what other down falls could be there?

Why would you mount it there? The closer to the throttle the better

was in a turbo book i had a quick read of...

i cant understand why would you want to, advantages or disadvatages...

just wondering if anyone on here knew :P

id agree with the throttle body idea... since the flow is heading in that directly, might as well directly it out rather than send it back towards the turbocharger and THEN out a bov... ^_^

well i dont think it would matter where in the line the BOV is, as the whole tube will be under pressure so no matter where it is, it will still vent that pressure out anyway??? front or rear its still going to let out the same amount of air. all the BOV is doing is relieving pressure in the pipe so it dont lag the turbo.

yeh, i still dont understand the reasoning for putting it there....

i remember vickrin going on about... it would just cycle out of the turbo, through the bov, back into the turbo and so on and so on until you opened the throttle again.

maybe it could possibly improove throttle responce?

keeps the movement of the air pressure going in one direction
its not that important cozmo but it doze help a little with lag

The stock re-circulating MR2 BOV is directly after the compressor....

Some people say the BOV is better closer to the turbo to help it keep spinning more as there is less restriction for the air to flow out of the turbo and through the BOV.

Some people say that it is better to be closer to the t/body as this means that the air keeps flowing through the i/cooler etc.
And because if it's at the turbo outlet, when it opens all the air from inside the i/cooler has to stop and turn around and flow backwards to get out and then when you step on the gas again it once again has to stop and flow in the other direction again.

Different poeple, different idea's, up to you to decide which way you want to go.
