4agte problems :O help!!

Postby 1598cc » Mon Feb 28, 2005 7:59 pm

having some problems gettin the car running again.. have just replaced AFM and hasnt helped at all..

symtoms:

start car, and itll die.. if i start the car and give it gas, itll rev up, then want to die again.. i can keep it running like this tho.

also, when my foot is down and i bak off, the car will keep reving for say almost a true second.. (0...1) then die off again.

i checked ecu for codes and:

Code 12

have had a fiddle by hand with the tps and that aint help.. its not set 100% correctly at all, but i just fiddled with it while it was running.

also, occasionally when i turn it to ON, the check error light will blink rapidly for ages.. not showing a specific code and will blink double the speed it would when putting out a code..

im sorta thinking the ecu has fukt out, but cant see why it would..

any help would be great!!!
cheers

Code 1 and code 2

Ive read on sites that code 1 is for normal operation, but then it comes up with the code 2.

And sometimes when turning the car to ON, itll just blink rapidly as said above

Cheers for the replies guys!

ive got this exact same problem at the mo. be interested to see what happens, thinking in my case its a one huge hole in the plumbing and the throttle body arrangment/idle control etcc. who knows will have to change one thing at a time to see what fixes it

Have you checked all vacuum lines and pipes for leaks and correct routing?

Have you at all checked your ignition timing, just wondering, some people tend to forget that one.

think ive seen your car around fred.

ive had a quick look at all vacuum piping and all seems to be well.. i cant even drive the car which sux bad, as ive wired up all the extra injectors so i can run more boost

how bad is yours fred... mine has got worse over time; it initially started missing, then now i cant even keep the idle half decent with my foot.. itll either go full throttle or die.

have you checked your ecu codes?

mines got a few more things wrong than urs i think.
- start up sometimes itl just start then cut out immediately
- other wise it will start no problem and just free rev like at 3 grand
- wont come down from that even when warm etc may come down to 2.5 or 2 if lucky
- when back of throttle it free revs up like half or a full grand
- when just rolling along in nuetral the revs consitantly drop up and down by .5-1 grand
hrmm what else............. all i can think of for now

When did the sc14 conversion did very average piping just to get it going will get it front mounted properly within next fortnight so hopefuly thatl fix sum of the problem and redo all the vacum hoses etc at the time back to their original state and think that the fuel pressure regulator is absolutly nakered and think need a new throttle body

That sounds like the classic symptom of a vacuum hose leak, double check that they are all connected properly and there are no holes in any of the hoses.

If you can get it to run long enough have a listen in the engine bay for any hissing sounds coming from any of the vacuum hoses - easiest way to find a leak.
