Recommended sparkplugs for standard GTT?

I'm about to head off to supercheap/appco/repco to get some new plugs.
Any recommendations? And what should I be expecting to pay per plug?

I'd just go with the standard plug in either NGK or champion depending on your preference. NGK is mine. Retail is about $6.95 a plug Id say unless they run platinum plugs standard which is be closer to $22 each.

At a guess it'll be something like a BKR6EP-8 if its platinum or a BKR6ES-8 if its a std plug. There will be a manual for you to look it up in at the shop anyway.

Iridiums are pretty good and long lasting. About $25 a pop though, so you're looking at $100.

Personally I wouldn't use anything other than the stock plugs from Toyota on a stock Toyota turbo. I'm sure other people have varying opinions on this, but there is no scope for problems if you stick with Toyota, as long as they give you the right ones.

Are platinums or iridiums really worth the money though? Are they a better plug or do they just last longer? They say 100K for them, has anyone run an engine for this long on a single set. The 4age manual lists a copper and platinum variant, is this the same with the 3SGTE?

yep same with 3sgte and same 4agze. As far as I know they do last longer so if your lazy or got a car where its not that easy to access the sparkplugs (eg skyline or anything with a top mounted cooler) it can be worth while using platinums.

performance wise it's very hard to say. The one thing i did notice was that my car didnt like the iridiums I had in it and yes they were the correct plug. I find I can't go wrong with plain old copper NGKs (albeit slightly colder than std). Never had any issues with these plugs and cheap as chips to replace meaning whenever I'm drag racing or off to the dyno or just bored I can swap in a brand new set.

My dad does 100ks on standard plugs Never had a problem ever. Or a miss.

I've got about 50,000 on my current plugs, intending on replacing soon, just because I'm carbed and prolly gunk them up quicker. And to try and fix my my emissions a bit which are shocking!

Cheers peeps - I ended up with BKR6EP-8's from repco. Got stung a bit in the wallet ($120) but they'll probably never need replacing again while I have the car I guess so meh.
