Wastegate on 1JZ.

Postby Silent Knight » Thu Mar 10, 2005 3:14 pm

I was wondering if anyone from here has every played around with putting a wastegate on a 1JZ whilst it's still using both turbos?

What sorta diferences can you notice etc?

How easy is it to modify the manifold to fit a wastegate on?

Cheers :D

Good idea, but stuff that! Be a fair bit of work involved for minimal gain. Guess would tap into both fact manifolds & port both into one external gate.. Possibly viable on 2jz setup that only has one wastegate as such
Labour would be easier to do single conversion, but guess cost of manifold & turbo bit extra :(
Nothing wrong with factory twin setup, can get plenty grunt out of em :D

Yea I know of people in the US that's done it on a 2JZ and it was a tad of a mission but it was done and works aparently good.

I was wondering if this would be a viable option to do on a 1JZ or just to wait till I go single on it wich shouldn't be 2 terribly long.

And yea I know the 1JZ can get fairly good power out of the stock turbos with a bit of playing around and tweaking here and there but i'm just considering playing around with a couple of different setups :D

Mean! You got the idea :D

You know what they say, 2 little ones do the job great, but nothing satisfies better than a big fat mutha one... 8)
