Yeah, some cars use the h/b light as a low fluid warning, although Ive only seen it on 92ish on vehicles it could be possible.
Where is the lever sitting? you may have messed up the cable position causing the lever to sit higher, tripping the switch. You should be able to readjust it on the hubs, if no joy there try the nut on the lever itself.(you will need to remove the trim surround)

i had the same problem in my 91 fxgt and when changing the springs (requires you to take the brake hose off the shock) i inspected for leaks etc - couldnt find anything. brake pads are only 10 months old... i just toped the fluid up and bled the brakes... i will still be monitoring it tho... brakes come in usefull sometimes
