celic GT4 clutch? problem

ok, so im boostn :lol: down the road, go 2 shift 2 4th from 3rd at 5k rpm, wtf! it wont go in. back out and in but not working. stop. wont go in2 any gears! arghhh :lol: so i have 2 start in gear and drive home :D and get hme. neways. thought it clutch cylinder thingy thing so bleed clutch thing and start er up in neutral. hmmm still wont go in gear, move it around abit. oh sweet! it goes in and outa all gears but needs 2 b pushed abit harder then it gets in nice and all sweet. so mayb hydraulics of some sort, but i drove round streets b4 all gud with the psssssssshhhhhhhhh :lol: could it b less serious than clutch, if it even is clutch. doesnt jump outa gears or slip. stil same pedal pressure etc.

i managed to crack a pedal box on my old gt4 which did a similar kind of thing , where it wouldnt go into gear at times..then eventually wouldnt go into gear at all... i thought it kind of random at the time but apparently it does happen every now and then.
other than that sounds like clutch or gbox :?

ok, na not gbox. slave cylinder f**kd i believe. will know 2mro.

yeah between master cylinder , clutches , cracked pedal boxes and in the very end a lunched gbox they all did similar things when rooted :wink:
geez that car got a hard time

hmm adding my 3 cents if you can put it in gear while your car is stoped and turn it on and drive in the gear and then cant get it out of the gear while car is going then its most probly ur splines on ur pressure plate, same thing happened in my integradat

Did you end up getting a recon kit for your slave cylinder? Did it fix the problem?

not the cylinder but the clutch 8O

got full kit at a very nice $270 (yes whole kit!) :D

now the hard part, well the expensive part - getting it fitted :lol:

My 185 did the same thing! Exactly! It turned out to be a spring that had popped out of the clutch plate and become lodged in the fingers of the splines of the cover not allowing the clutch to disengage. Such a major for such a tiny part! I tried the hydraulics too but this didnt help any.

how much do reakon it will be all up for your install and clutch?


Can anybody give me an estimate for a new clutch and install into my fwd N/A ST182 celica. just a rough price. for both the clutch and install.

mine wasnt that amazing when i bought the car, but since then.....................its sort worse now, not absolute crap but does slip often.

my clutch kit was $270 :D thru work real real real cheap. install mayb $500-$600-$700 8O ur clutch/install b cheaper as not 4wd etc

Prob close to $1k labour for clutch change in GT4 and half that in 2wd model, whats so special about that price? I can walk into trade parts here and buy a 3 piece exedy daikin st205 replacement clutch kit for less than that, or off that guy on trademe for genuine less than $200
