ae 92 4agze gearbox vs 4age gearbox

Postby Fandango » Sat Mar 19, 2005 7:02 pm

what are the differences? if any? could I put a 4age gearbox on my 4agze? Im guessing the 4agze gearbox is stronger somehow.

Reason I ask is, the spedo drive on my gearbox is rooted. I need a speedo to get a warrent. :?

the 4agze gearbox is stronger and requires a different flywheel and clutch than the 4age gearbox.

If you want to put a 4age gearbox onto your engine you will require the 4age flywheel and clutch setup as well as the gearbox, it will attach to the engine then, but I'm not sure if the gearbox mounts will match up with the gze gearbox mounts.

I recommend that you fix the speedo drive problem with your current gearbox. Even if the NA gearbox is free it will be a pain in the ass to change all the bits needed
4age NA gearbox will need different driveshafts and hubs, also different rear? gearbox mount. It isn't as strong and has different gear ratios, also as said above the spline on the input shaft is also different so you will need to change the clutch plate and probably flywheel and pressure plate too.
The smaller clutch plate won't be able to handle as much torque and might begin to slip quite quickly.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
