i have a 1973 corona.
the motor in it is a 12r, 1587cc 90hp, with about 140nm torque.
obviously i want to go faster.
i have 2 options
1: 4age:I4 DOHC 16v 1587cc, 130hp/150nm.
pros: aftermarket
weight
economy
cons: cost and availability of rwd gearboxes/rwd intake manifolds
lack of torque (which is important to me as i used to drive a v8).
difficulty of installation.
2: 22r-e:I4 SOHC 8v 2236cc, 125hp/198nm.
pros: cost
availability of parts
ease of installation (comes from the same motor series, hence uses same mounts/crossmembers.) also will not need any manipulation of transmission tunnel to fit gear box.
torque
2.4l producing 125hp means lots of scope for gaining additional power
cons: weight
economy(which should still be good with the correct diff ratio)
i really like the idea of the 22r, it will be a far easier installtion, look standard, and it is different to your average 4age. also, the 22r is good for turbo charging so i have been told.
