after being told by a chap at pitstop that *since they make 170 horsepower, you should be fitting a 2.5" or even larger for their displacement*

I stood there staring at him... 2 and 3/4?!?! show us ya turbo :P.

looks like exhaust shop guys are contributing to very noisy exhausts :) *bigger better bro*

have u looked under a bzg, its pretty free flowing there are hardly any bends at all, no 90 deg bends mainly straight, the only stupid hump is the one that goes over the cross member buts its still not that bad.

You know, ever since I took this car home from the yard, ive been seeing the Levin version of it {BZ?} everywhere! The only thing I can see from the outside is the exhaust is smaller - What IS the difference between these two cars?

purely cosmetic, each have different taillights, the levin has a Grill whereas the Trueno doesnt and slightly different shaped headlights

When someone says they have a 2.5" 2.25" or whatever exhaust.
Do they mean I/d or O/d?
Cos 2.5" O/D exhaust pipe is 2.25" I/D

so if i reduce it down to 2.5" isnt that going to disturb the airflow out of the turbo as its a 3" hole outlet.

i think in that situation its abit silly to go smaller, but you could always taper it into a smaller exhaust, but its easier to just stick with 3 inch

but yeah 3" is massive for a 1.6l but then again bazda is running some mad power.

3" is big for a 3l engine....

just heard another story from someone - apparently its going to be compulsory soon for cat's in exhaust systems?
Maybe theres no point in taking it off, i should just get a free flow cat and a tail pipe and leave it at that?

cheers

yes it will be compulsary to run a cat, but remember these will need to change these every few years or so.

i think its pre 1990 that will be exempt, i will try to find more out

You mean they will need to be changed every few years?
Why would pre 1990 be exempt?

they clog up and stuff
and stop working as well.

pre 90s cars will be exempt as emissions standards back then were different, and its hard to expect them to comply.

Yip thats it. The other great having an old car in that you can ask a cop what the factory exhaust sounded like when they tell you it's too loud.
