Shift selector light not lighting up drive (caldina)

Postby Four_Seven » Sun Apr 03, 2005 2:03 pm

Dad's got a 1.75L auto caldina that doesn't light up the drive light on the dash anymore. It's a 1999 (AT211? - that's the chassis code on the firewall) with a 7A-FE engine.

What would cause this and how could we fix it?

bulb in the dash would have blown... that would be my best guess. you'll need to pull it out and replace it... but if you arent sure what your doing... then don't cause there is quite often a lot of wiring behind there and sometimes its easy to get them out but a bastard to put back in...

Aren't they just LED's though? which i'm sure are very difficult to destroy if used in the correct manner.... or could an LED blow too in a situation like this?

Not normally LED's in the dash, and so they blow bulbs occasionly.

also there is a bit of an issue where the dashes look like arent lighting up properly,

undo the dash pull it forward, then click it in again and hey presto it might work... (did for me, although you may as well check the bulb at the same time)
