AE82 Diagnosis Codes :S

Postby XS1V » Tue Apr 26, 2005 3:46 pm

I had an engine light flash up a while ago so did a diagnosis check and got nine flashes. Went and looked in the haynes workshop book at the codes and it says nine flashes - not used so i rechecked to make sure i had counted rite and got nine again. Anyone had this happen??

was there a break between flashs eg instead of flash pause flash to nine times, it could have been flash pause flash long pause and flash pause seven times, which would be a code for 27. should be a distinct enough break to be able to tell. hope that helps.

just a random number pulled out of my head

Thats haynes manuals for ya.
I had a code 9 and code 11.
one was the speed sensor the other was something to do with the fact that I have removed the air/con.
Cant remember which was which though.
Look up the code 11

Oh, and I dont know if its relevant, but Ive seen a list with code 72 (which could be your 9 flashes) as:

72:
AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR RELAY/RELAY SIGNAL

--A/C COMPRESSOR RELAY/CIRCUIT

--ECU
90 SW20 Turbo - Project
90 SW20 N/A - Sold

Codes 1 to 11 are for cars with map sensors.

codes 11 to 100 are for cars with airflow meters.

I have both sets but only the AFM codes with me.

11 - MAIN ECM POWER
12 - REV SIGNAL (ENGINE)
13 - NO REV SIGNAL TO ECU
14 - CONNECTION BETWEEN EIM AND ECU
15 - CONNECTION BETWEEN EIM AND ECU
16 - ECM CPU
17 - RIGHT HAND SIDE CAM SENSOR
18 - LEFT HAND SIDE CAM SENSOR
21 - O2 SENSOR
22 - COOLANT TEMP SENSOR
24 - IAT SENSOR
25 - AIR FUEL MIXTURE
26 - AIR FUEL MIXTURE
27 - SECONDARY O2 SENSOR
28 - O2 SENSOR
29 - SECONDARY O2 SENSOR
31 - AFM (or MAP)
32 - AFM
34 - TURBO CHARGE BOOST SENSOR SIGNAL
35 - TURBO CHARGE BOOST SENSOR SIGNAL
41 - TPS SIGNAL
42 - VSS SIGNAL
43 - STARTER SIGNAL
51 - A/C SWITCH SIGNAL
52 - LEFT SIDE KNOCK SENSOR
53 - KNOCK SENSOR CONTROL UNIT
54 - TURBO CHARGE CONDENSER CONTROL UNIT SIGNAL
55 - RIGHT SIDE KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL

I will get the others and post them back as these will be the wrong codes for you.
