Starlet soleil (ep82) ?

Postby fade to black » Sat Apr 30, 2005 7:13 pm

I'v seen a type of starlet around, i thought it was ep82 shape, it had the word soleil written on it, it also had 4wd written on it. Can someone give me the specs for this model? is there a 4wd soleil...? If so, would it be possible to repower with the engine from the ep82 gt starlet.

Anyone know of similar projects?

Mr Revhead : Did the EP71 shape ever come out 4wd? I've heard rumours some NZ new ones did but yet to see one in the flesh.

Most EP82 Jap Starlets were badged with this Soleil name. It's French & has some referenec to God of Sun or something similar. Apparently my family name is derived from this term.
When we rallied the EP82 Starlets in the 90's we left this banner on the cars for this reason.

The drive equipment in the 4WD version is very light & would not last long in a modified turbo set up. In gravel form the thing'd be a real slug.

There were no NZ new 4WD EP71 Starlets that I'm aware of but certainly they came in as Jap imports.

Ah, I knew they did come as 4wd but wasn't sure of the origin. Thanks. Now to find one....
