Often aftermarket clutches are just as good if not better than OEM, despite what the dealerships will tell you

Suprisingly, I've found all genuine Toyota parts that I've sourced through Ilam Toyota (sorry Mr Revhead, but they're only round the corner!

Yeah, I suppose I got a bit of a shock when HB Toyota gave me a quote for about $700 for parts & labour, and the mechanic I usually use said about $450... figured that not all of that could be labour/ dealership costs, and since a friend got quoted $220 for a hupcap... 
Been meaning to give call you Mr Revhead, but been keeping internet usage down- saving pennies, and work's internet policy a PITA

The main clutch place in town recommends a clutch by Valeo, saying its "really, really good", being 20% grippier/ clampier than Daiken's standard one. Is this one of the mumbo jumbo brands you're talking about? They're not saying its a HD clutch, but that they have definitely had good feedback from their customers... oh, to be the all knowing all seeing Oz!
