Recomended Amps for 12inch sub

Postby NZcelica » Mon Jun 27, 2005 8:31 pm

Well my mates a very bling bling kinda guy and hes currently got a pioneer 12 inch sub in a sealed box and wants to "crank" the living sh*t outta it.
He currently has a Lightning audio amp that 'says' its 150w rms and it turns to protect mode when hes got it fully blasting.
HOWEVER he wants it louder, so any recommendations on an amp that can "crank" this 12 inch sub
Chur
(sorry for my ghetto speak but with bling comes loud boom  "

you sure its getting enough power to it?? My fusion (rated at 190w) has a 4gauge kit hooked up to it. Probly overkill but it never goes into protection. This friend would be you would it?? Mr i have infinity sounds but the worlds cheepest amp

also find out what the preout voltage is off the headunit as more the preout voltage the better so he may need to spend a bit more on the heady

ALSO GET RID OF THE LIGHTNING AUDIO
get an alpine or rockford bd 3001 mono they go really well

You do realise that Lightning Audio and Rockford are both owned by the same company and come out of the same factory, right? ;)

Yes i know monaco distribute both products but i know for a fact that i have had more problems with lightning than rockford as lightning audio is only there to replace the pioneer amps that pioneer never bought out for a couple of years and pioneer amps are s#%t aswell

I believe the entry level stuff is make in china, not the USA.
Some it is ok basic very entry level stuff, and some of it is just scary inside like some of the strike range.

Before you go out and buy a new amp check its not the sub playing up. I spent ages with the same prob thinking my amp was stuffed only to try a different sub and it worked!
