Postby Audi » Mon Jul 04, 2005 1:50 pm

Hey how hard would it be to put the engine and driveline, including brakes into my ST-185 RC?

When I first read I thought you wanted to put ST185RC bits into an ST195, I thought "Cool!". But no, I think you've probably got a big confused there. Maybe you want to put st215 caldina GT-T bits into yours? Except I don't know why you'd want to swap the brakes, AFAIK there is little to no difference. Anyway, assuming you've been confused and want to swap a 3sgte + 4wd gear from a st205 or st215, they will require a bit of wiring, but other than that it should be pretty straight forward if you get all the associated sensors an such.
The brakes, if you're talking st205 ones, bolt on at the back, the front however needs the disks machined down about 10-15mm (diameter), and a few other little bits, but it's mostly pretty simple.

I was just hoping he was confused about model numbers, so giving him advice for if he wants to do something more sane, ie using ST205 or ST215 caldina gtt bits.

I have an ST-195, for the record.
3SGE 4WD Caldina, 1996.

I've no idea if the key chassis dimensions etc are comparible to the ST185 but that'd be the key, I think.
This car is definately longer than the 185 was, but by how much i'm not sure - likewise whether that length different is in drivetrain terms.

Ha sorry for confusing the hell out of you guys. I didn't know there actually was an ST195. I was just thinking that if I had ST205 running gear in my ST185 what would that make it. So, yeah I want ST205 3SGTE and nice brakes and diffs etc into my car.

there's your answer then. All mounts etc swap, as do all drivetrain components, although the gearbox differences are strictly ratios, and diffs are the same
